Taxes Forced Me to Sell Home

My family was forced to sell our beautiful  home in 2009 when my husband had to retire from the Ashland Fire Department because his back was in bad shape. Ashland taxes were too high and I am still home sick for my house. I still cry when I think about my house.

My husband had a surgery which bought him nine more years. The Doctors wouldn’t do another surgery after that. So we sold the house that we loved due to the tax burden.

I don’t think people think it really comes to that, but it does. And it’s not right. My husband and I have lived here in Ashland all our lives. We shouldn’t have had to give up our home. And now I can’t imagine how people are hanging on with inflation on top of everything else. I feel so bad for the residents that I know are hurting. Please have compassion for those like me and vote “No” on the tax override.
